The department’s professional focus comprises consulting, an
authorized expert’s judging, and a professional expert’s evaluating
in the field of structural engineering. We prepare and organize
professional seminars for the general public where we provide
information on current regulations in the field of ground and
railway communication structures and buildings we authored or we
are in the process of elaborating. We publish professional
publications, papers, and participate in conferences where we
present results of our work to the professional public.
At present, among our main activities are basic and applied
research projects for the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of
Industry and Trade. These are:
- Evaluation of the residual service life of main steel members
in bridge structures made of improved weather corrosion resistance
steel (weathering steel)
- (Guarantor: Ing. Miloslava Pošvářová);
- System faults in bridge expansion joints and the evaluation of
risks for transportation (Guarantor: Ing. Miloslava
Pošvářová);
- We also participate as a co-guarantor (Guarantor: Třinec Iron
and Steel Works, a.s.) in the research project under progress for
the Ministry of Industry and Trade as part of the TANDEM program –
Research in changes of mechanical properties of control-cooled
concrete armor steel caused by welding, and research in other
methods of joining concrete armor steel
- (Guarantor: Ing. Miloslava Pošvářová).
For the Czech Republic Railway Infrastructure Administration
(SZDC), we are in the process of executing Bridge Standard Sheet –
MVL 812 – Bridge Expansion Joints.
In 2007, we finished executing and now we are preparing for
publication the Technical and Quality Specifications and Technical
Specifications provided for the Ministry of Transport. These
are:
- Technical Quality Specifications – Chapter 19 (Technical and
quality specifications) Steel Bridges and Structures;
- Technical Specifications - Concrete Armor Steel Welding and
Other Connection Types;
- Technical Specifications - Weathering Steel-Made Bridges and
Ground Communication Structures, Volume 1 and Volume 2.
